The department of electromechanical Systems Engineering was established in the academic year 2019-2020 with the establishment of the missan engineering technical college one of the formations of the southern technical university. The department is considered one of the modern departments according to recent developments in various systems and devices. It combines the specializations of electrical engineering and mechanical engineering to prepare technical engineers in the field of electromechanical systems engineering. This is to meet the requirements of many industrial sectors and investment companies in Iraq for qualified graduates who combine the two specializations in electrical and mechanical engineering. Students graduate from it after Four years during which they receive theoretical and practical lessons in the foundations of electrical and mechanical engineering, as well as other lessons in the field of electromechanical systems engineering to graduate technical engineers who have skills and knowledge in both specializations simultaneously. The department’s tasks are to prepare the study plan for undergraduate studies and follow up on its implementation through assignments to faculty members according to their specializations, the prescribed theoretical and laboratory hours, and to work on preparing the department’s integrated laboratories and to follow up on the level of performance and commitment of members to official working hours at a level that ensures the success of the teaching process, as well as preparing the study plan for postgraduate students in the department and nominating those who meet the admission requirements for postgraduate studies from the department’s members for  postgraduate studies inside or outside the country according to the department’s need for scientific specializations as well as forming scientific and administrative committees in a manner consistent with the department’s requirements and implementing the decisions and directives of the university council and the college council regarding the department’s work
