The Technical Engineering College in Maysan was established in late 2019 as one of the colleges affiliated to Southern Technical University. The objectives behind opening the college were numerous among others and of the most important is the fact that Maysan Province was the only governorate within the southern part Iraq that lacked in having a technical college which is specialized in the common interests of the local and national community. For many years ago, the only institution that provided the province with the technical intermediate staff who hold a technical diploma was the Technical Institute of Amarah. Therefore, the need was urgent, the intentions were sincere, and the pursuit of vigorous and serious efforts was made at the opening of the Technical Engineering College in Maysan and in two very important engineering specialties for Maysan province, which is considered one of the oil investments and developing provinces in the field of reconstruction and construction, namely the Department of Electromechanical Engineering Techniques and Building and Construction Engineering Techniques.

Despite the great difficulties that the college faced since the first day of its opening, represented by the suspension of work hours in schools and colleges due to the popular demonstrations that were followed by the outbreak of the Coronavirus delinquency and the consequent curfew in the province that caused the few numbers that the college received due to the lack of popularity in the province and among students at the secondary schools, the college today opens its doors to its students who have exceeded the three hundred students, despite the fact that the college is still in its second year and its serious attempt to open the afternoon class for the academic year 2021/2022 for the purpose of providing the opportunity for young people and employees who have not had the opportunity to obtain a bachelor’s degree or who are not allowed because of their jobs to apply for morning class.

As a conclusion, we pray to God to grant all faculty staff the success in moving forward with sincere hard work in order for the college to succeed in graduating successful technical engineers with high experience in their specializations for the purpose of participating in building their country and raising its name high among countries.
