The Technical College of Engineering in Maysan, Department of Electromechanical Technology Engineering, organized a scientific trip for its fourth-stage students to the Al-Kahla gas power station. They were received by the station director, Eng. Maher Hashem Jaafar, and the assistant director, Eng. Haider Hashem Ali, accompanied by the engineers of the electromechanical department, Engineer Murtada Muhammad Al-Halafi and Engineer Ahmed Rahma Makhilef. The scientific trip was also coordinated with diligent efforts by the Assistant Director, Engineer Haider Hashem Ali, while maintaining the turbine and generator, where the students were briefed on the parts of the turbine and generator. As well as the turbine generation unit and how to perform the necessary maintenance for the system. As well as access to the control unit, the MARK 6E program, the MCC electrical systems, and the on-site control room in the generating units. The station consists of four generating units, type GE Frame 9 e 125MW, with a total production capacity of 500 MW.
The students also learned about the maintenance of the turbine, the gas pressure system, current and voltage transformers, and the excitation coils for generation.
