The Follow-up Department at the Technical Engineering College in Maysan organized an awareness-raising seminar entitled (Electronic Blackmail) in cooperation with the Maysan Security Directorate, University Security Department, in the presence of the Assistant Dean, Dr. Jawad Jaiul Saadoun, and a number of college members and students. The seminar, which was lectured by Dr. Suja Majid Dawood and Eng. Dahha Hassan Fleih defined electronic blackmail, its dangers and its role in society, and the reasons that lead to it, as well as raising awareness among segments of society about the danger of electronic blackmail, its consequences, and how to protect personal accounts from hacking, in addition to how to deal with the blackmailer in the event of blackmail. The seminar touched on several topics, including the definition of electronic blackmail, the reasons for electronic blackmail, methods of electronic blackmail, protection from electronic blackmail, and the mechanism of the blackmail process that begins with luring the victim, threatening him and bargaining with him to offer private things and blackmail him through them, and thus emphasized the means that lead to blackmail, stressing the need not to accept unknown friend requests and focusing on parental control, and that weak parental control is the basis for blackmail, and the importance of avoiding harmful sites. On the other hand, the discussion was opened and the Assistant Dean indicated that the Deanship of the College is fully prepared to hold educational seminars and lectures to limit the spread of these phenomena, directing all students from the education platform to look forward and realize these important matters in the joints of life and preserve public property and care for public taste. In conclusion, the Assistant Dean, Dr. Jawad Jaioul Saadoun, thanked the lecturers, the National Security Directorate in Maysan and the Follow-up Division for holding such useful seminars for students and society.
