The Women’s Affairs Unit at the Technical College of Engineering in Maysan, within the formations of the Southern Technical University, organized a training workshop entitled (Social Justice in the Iraqi Constitution in force 2005) for two days within the pillar of social justice. The lecturer, M.M. Zainab Faraj Karim, lectured in the presence of a number of college members in the Continuing Education Hall. The workshop, in which M.M. lectured, aimed to: Zainab Faraj Karim, a lecturer in the Department of Electromechanical Engineering, stressed the need to work on developing women’s capabilities and raising their scientific and cultural level to build a society capable of managing its resources and distributing them fairly to achieve social, economic and cultural justice. The workshop discussed several topics, including the definition of social justice and its role in building society and the role of the family, which is considered the foundation of society, and the discussion of the Iraqi constitution, which guarantees in Article 29 that the family is the foundation of society and the state preserves its entity and religious and moral values ​​and the state guarantees the protection of motherhood and childhood according to the constitution, as the constitution prohibits all forms of violence and abuse in the family. The workshop concluded with a recommendation to legislate the Child Protection Law and the Anti-Violence Against Women Law. It is worth noting that the Women’s Affairs Department in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has directed the need to hold seminars and training workshops that encourage the development of social and cultural skills.
