Maysan Technical College of Engineering organized a symposium entitled The Role of Educational Institutions in Combating Drugs in the hall of the Department of Building and Construction Engineering Technology, with the attendance of a number of college students. The symposium, which was lectured by M.M. Zainab Faraj Karim, aimed to identify the extent of the danger of drugs in society and the role of educational institutions in combating them. The symposium addressed several axes, including the role of educational institutions in combating drugs, describing them as one of the dangerous forms of terrorism that threatens youth and society. It also addressed the role of the family in establishing values and principles that protect youth from deviance, stressing that the responsibility for combating drugs does not fall on one party, but rather requires joint cooperation between security and educational institutions and society. Extensive discussions were held on the causes of the spread of drugs, ways to treat addiction cases, and mechanisms for preventing them, within the framework of enhancing community awareness of this phenomenon and ways to combat it. This symposium is part of a series of awareness-raising events organized by the Southern Technical University, confirming its commitment to spreading community awareness and shedding light on issues that affect the security and safety of society, especially the youth.
