Within the framework of cultural and awareness activities, Maysan Technical College of Engineering organized a symposium entitled The Phenomenon of Suicide and Ways to Address It for students of the Department of Building and Construction Engineering Technology The symposium, which was lectured by M.M. Zainab Faraj Karim, a lecturer in the Department of Building and Construction Engineering Technology, aimed to explain the reasons that led to the spread of this phenomenon throughout Iraq, whether the reasons were religious, psychological, behavioral, social or material. The symposium touched on several axes, including the phenomenon of suicide, its causes and treatment, and Islam’s position on preserving the soul. Social media and its relationship to the phenomenon of suicide, and emphasized the development of successful solutions and treatments for the phenomenon of suicide, the most important of which is reviving the religious spirit and upholding the system of correct and sound Islamic values. The symposium came out with several recommendations, including reviving morale by spreading hope in the souls of others and reviving and activating the system of social values that are governed by mercy and social solidarity based on justice and equality in all areas of life.
